ROCK GARDEN - CD

Originally I named this project “Ma” during the recording process. Ma is an important part of my relationship to sound. Ma —an idea meaning meaning space, distance, air, feelings, things in between A and B, "the silence between the notes which make the music.” My process of composing music is based on improvisation, and I am always seeking an appropriate Ma in different compositions or situations. The decision to name this release Rock Garden came after the recording but before we designed the package. This recording sounds like a rock garden, all the Ma that has been created and captured.
There are 12 compositions on this CD. Performed, recorded and mixed by Tatsuya Nakatani during June and July 2019 in Truth or Consequences, NM, USA. Mastered by Andrew Weathers in Littlefield, TX. Photo and design by Erika Nakatani.
