The tenth edition of Synoptic Frequencies will be taking place on Saturday, August 10th at 7:00 PM. We're excited to host the series once again at @matovustl, an inclusive Jewish neighborhood center housed in a former synagogue in Botanical Heights.
We're trying something different and not selling advance tickets for this show. Instead, a suggested donation of $10 can be made at the door. Seating is limited at Matovu, so I'd suggest showing up early! Doors at 6:30.
Three performances here (along with visuals provided by Aaron Owens). We're thrilled to host our friend Tatsuya Nakatani again, this time performing a solo set. Active internationally for over three decades, Nakatani has released over 80 recordings and tours extensively, performing over 150 concerts a year. His visceral and hypnotic performances stretch the limits of percussion-based music.
Also welcoming two longtime stewards of the punk and free improv scenes, Joe Hess and Mabel Suen, with their new project Clone Stamp. Blending furious hardcore songcraft with sections of improvisation, we have been promised that this performance will be "quite loud". Bring your earplugs!
Opening the show is Fault, a new solo project by Jesse Edmister, using flute and electronics to create a gentle, dreamy tapestry of psychedelic sound.
